Your time in St. Michaels can be filled with a variety of activities from fishing, boating, sailing, historical or cocktail cruises, shopping, kayaking, biking or just relaxing around a pool with a good book. Our town is hip, historic, and very laid back.This is also a very pet-friendly town as we love our animals.

We have wonderful museums on the history of our town, the Chesapeake Bay and a new Classic Motor Museum.Our Art Galleries and Antique Shops are not to be missed.

Looking for a little exercise join one of our group runs or rent a paddle board or kayak and experience the beauty on our beautiful creeks and rivers.

We even have a self guided historical house walking tour under Maps and Directions where you will also fine maps for kayaking and biking trails. There are so many things to do, it is hard to list, but what we find most important is the activity of relaxation. As soon as you drive across the bridge, you start to feel it and by the time you are in St. Michaels, the relaxation is starting to take place.

2020 is the Year of the Woman in Maryland, and St. Michaels is a great place to celebrate all the women in your life. Be sure to take in the exquisite photography exhibit celebrating women, On Land and On Sea: A Century of Women in the Rosenfeld Collection, at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum only through April 5, 2020. See osprey, dolphin, and the area’s most magnificent historic estates with a narrated scenic river cruise aboard Patriot Cruises. You can also sail on Selina II, or rent a small craft, kayak or SUP board to explore the harbor and many of St. Michaels’ meandering creeks and waterways.

4. Art, Art, Baby!

Beginning May 29 and continuing through September, the 18th National Exhibition of the American Society of Marine Artists comes to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. This exhibition is hosted every three years in museums across the United States, and highlights the works of marine artists recognized as the best in contemporary marine art by the American Society of Marine Artists’ juried competition. The St. Michaels Art League is very active in the community, and St. Michaels also has wonderful artisan shops and art galleries, with Second Saturday Art Night Out events regularly scheduled.

9. Get Jolly, Mon!

With an Island Music Cocktail Cruise aboard Patriot Cruises. Enjoy the Miles River, for a fun, scenic cruise, with an onboard cash bar and a variety of music leaning towards Reggae played. This 90-minute cruise offered on most Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day and also on the Sundays of Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.

10. Yo, Ho, Ho, and a Bottle of Rum… or Beer, or Wine

13. Watch Bailers and Boardsmen Sailing

The bailers keep the iconic Chesapeake Bay sailing log canoes above water, while the boardsmen do a balancing act tacking and jibing down the Miles River… You’ll only find these beautiful historic boats on four rivers in the entire world, and you can see them on display at CBMM, and watch the races and others sailing from aboard Patriot Cruises.

Experience history in the making as shipwrights transform wood and other raw materials to rebuild Maryland Dove, Maryland’s flagship and a replica of one of the ships that began the Maryland Colony in 1634. Construction is underway at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. You can only watch the transformation now through 2021.
